Do As I Say, Not As I Do Mentality of a Typical Politician on Full Display

HOBBS, NM – In Tuesday’s Cibola Beacon, Congressman Harry Teague bragged, “after building a business, he worked to provide all of his employees with health insurance.”

He neglected to mention that he cut off his own employees’ health insurance last year right before Christmas, after taking a $3 million bonus.

In May, Politico ran a story noting “When he ran for Congress in 2008, businessman Harry Teague boasted that he provided health insurance for all of his employees back home in New Mexico…What Teague didn’t say at the time: At the very moment he was voting against the [healthcare] bill, his own companies were eliminating health care coverage for employees. “

Federal Government Cutting Back on PILT Funds

New Mexico Congressional Delegation Continues to Toe the Party Line, Ignore Local Needs

HOBBS, NM – Several New Mexico counties will be forced to deal with potentially crippling budget shortfalls, because the federal government decreased funding for the Payment In Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program. PILT is a program started in the 1970's to reimburse states and counties for land owned by the federal government, which is not taxed or available for economic development.

“Every year I was in Congress, the federal government tried to take the funds for PILT, and use them for other projects,” Steve Pearce said. “We had to fight to restore funding to local communities. This year, New Mexico is losing almost $5 million in PILT funds--crucial money needed to shore up the budgets of our county governments.”

Teague Allies Falsely Attack Pearce, Again

Radical Group Continues To Pay Back Teague for His Support of Cap and Trade

HOBBS, NM – The Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, an extreme group dedicated to passing the job killing cap-and-trade energy tax, launched a 2nd false ad on behalf of Harry Teague.

"As usual, Teague’s liberal allies are intentionally misleading the people of New Mexico, " said Jason Heffley, spokesman for Pearce.

Among the falsehoods, DOWF once again cited a faulty report from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). CREW is another liberal group that even admits it botched its investigation and got its facts wrong. Furthermore, newspapers and independent fact checkers have labeled the Defenders of Wildlife’s ads as false. Factcheck.org used terms like “misleading”, “bum rap”, “no evidence” and “unsubstantiated” to describe the ad and CREW’s story. Even the House Ethics Committee sent Pearce a letter, stating that he filled out his financial disclosure forms correctly.
