Teague's vote could make or break the legislation
HOBBS, NM- The vote on the health care legislation is expected to occur this week as soon as Speaker Pelosi secures the 216 votes needed to pass the House.
New Mexico Congressman Harry Teague is one of the few House Democrats whose vote will decide whether or not the health care bill passes.
The New York Times reported today that the Congressmen that fall in line and help Nancy Pelosi pass the health care bill will receive top priority for campaign cash.
"Also among those House Democrats whose decisions could make or break the legislation are Representative Brian Baird of Washington State, Representative Michael E. McMahon of Staten Island, Representative Suzanne Kosmas of Florida, Representative Mike Ross of Arkansas and Representative Harry Teague of New Mexico.
"The White House has signaled to lawmakers that assistance for midterm elections; for example, presidential visits and fund-raisers --- will be prioritized for those who support the bill." (New York Times, March 15, 2010)
Pearce campaign spokeswoman Alicia Collins stated, "New Mexicans have been patiently waiting to hear how Congressman Teague will vote on the health care bill. The question remains, will he vote with New Mexico and America and say 'no' to the higher taxes, government take-over of health care and job killing legislation. Or will Teague vote 'yes' and sell his vote for a Presidential visit and extra cash for his campaign coffers."
