Even More Voter Fraud Possible With Same Day Voting Legislation
Governor Richardson and the Democratic Party are stinging with the loss in Massachusetts and are trying to circumvent the will of voters to prevent further losses.A bill is currently making its way through the legislature in Santa Fe that would open the voting process up to more fraud by allowing same day voting. You can read the legislation in this file: HB0123.
Currently, New Mexicans can register to vote any time, with the exception of 28 days prior to an election. A vast majority of people, who want to participate in the electoral process, take the time to register to vote prior to the actual election.
We must stop same day voting and press our state lawmakers to pass a voter ID system.
Voter ID will go a long way toward reducing or eliminating voter fraud that we hear about in New Mexico after every election. Every citizen has the right to have their vote counted. They should not be denied that right because someone fraudulently voted using their name.
Legislation is currently proposed in Santa Fe that would require a photo ID be shown at the polls and would provide a state issued photo ID for those who cannot afford it. You can read the photo ID bill here: HB0097.
This is commonsense legislation that our legislators should pass. According to a poll by and Albuquerque firm, Research & Polling Inc., and published in The Santa Fe New Mexican, March 5, 2009, an overwhelming majority agree that photo identification should be required at the polls to prevent voter fraud.
Integrity must be restored to our voting system. Contact your legislators and urge them to stop same-day voting and support voter ID laws. To identify your legislator, click here: Locate My Representatives.
