Message of turning around economy and stopping wasteful spending resonating
HOBBS, NM – Former Congressman Steve Pearce was today elevated to the highest level of the NRCC Young Guns Program. The recognition is due to his message of turning our economy around and stopping wasteful spending is resonating with the people of Southern New Mexico. The result has been an out pouring of grassroots support, local fundraising and building a superior campaign organization.
In only six months, Pearce has raised over $760,000 from over 2,000 individual contributors. The grassroots support for Pearce is strong and is demonstrated by the fact that $103, 136 or 14% of Pearce’s 2009 fundraising total came from small donors who gave less than $200.
Pearce stated, “Our campaign is excited to be recognized by the NRCC as being on the right track. We will continue to travel Southern New Mexico talking about the need for us to change the focus and direction of the Nancy Pelosi led Democrat Congress. Congress has too few members with experience as a small business owner and veteran. That is the experience I will bring and hit the ground running to put policies in place that cut wasteful spending, create jobs and reining in the growth of the federal government.”
In a statement from the NRCC, Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX) stated in part, “…Steve Pearce will continue to present a clear alternative to a Democrat majority that continues to spend too much, borrow too much and tax too much at the expense of the American people.”
The Young Guns program was founded in the 2007-2008 election cycle. The Young Guns Program began as a Member driven organization of House Republicans dedicated to electing open seat and challenger candidates nationwide. Candidates advance through the 3 tiers of the program by meeting set benchmarks and achieving significant fundraising goals.
