The United States armed forces have been the guardian of freedom throughout the world for decades.  The rise of radical Islam in recent years has brought a new threat to America.  Steve Pearce believes we must maintain a strong military that continues to be second to none. There is no doubt that our operations in Iraq and Afghanistan have had problems and that mistakes have been made.  Pearce supported the surge in Iraq that has led to the stabilization of that country and has opened the way for an intelligent draw down of American troops.  He will also support the opinions of the generals on the ground in Afghanistan as they work toward a solution in that important battleground in the War on Terror.

Check back later for more from Steve Pearce on National Security…

After Three Major Blunders Janet Napolitano Should Be Fired Or Forced To Resign

… the bottom line is we ended up with a bomb on a plane with a detonator ready to go off -- that’s totally unacceptable.

Early on, this Administration sent a clear signal that they believed that the threat to the homeland from Muslim terrorists was not as significant as what it really is.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano had a policy of concentrating on manmade disasters, not on terrorism.  The President stopped using the term War on Terror.  Even after the jihadist in Detroit, our President makes no mention of fanatical clerics who encourage terrorism as the road to salvation.

We were given all the information before the problem arose and our Secretary of Homeland Security chose not to listen or heed.  President Obama is promising to “repair the intelligence gaps” but there was no gap, the information was there, it was just not responded to.

Staging Sheikh Mohammed Terrorist Trial In NY Reckless

Oh, that is just brilliant.  Putting Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his fellow terrorists on trial in New York is about the most reckless thing this administration could do.  They might as well paint a big bull's-eye on New York and write “prime target” above it.  This is the insanity to which political correctness has led.

It also raises some extremely important issues.  Will the allowable evidence be enough to convict these mass murderers?  That may sound silly, I mean they are obviously guilty, but the rules of evidence in our citizen/civilian courts are much stricter than is the case for an enemy combatant in a military tribunal.  Remember, Zacarias Moussaoui, the twentieth hijacker, already escaped his deserved death penalty because of the civil liberties aimed at protecting the rights of a defendant in a civilian criminal court.  Because of these protections, especially the Fourth Amendment to our Constitution, prosecutors were not allowed to use data from his computer.  Without this evidence, he received a life sentence instead of the death penalty.
